Fishing bears Lake Clark, AK
Fishing bears Lake Clark, AK
Aug, 27th-Sept 1st, 2023
STL Host Charles (Chas) Glatzer, M.Photog, Canon EOL
Arrive in Anchorage, AK 8/26 overnighting the day before the workshop. Depart for home 9/1.
Having hosted 160 plus bear workshops to date Chas extensive knowledge of bear (black, brown, polar) behavior translates into better imagery for the participant. Knowing what to look for ahead of time can often mean the difference in capturing a mediocre image, or the image of a lifetime. Our smaller group (we have the whole lodge) provides greater opportunity to photograph natural behavior that can frequently be photographed at close range. Remote access, and extended time afield allows us to make the most of each wildlife encounter.
Our lodge is located in the most beautiful and pristine wilderness setting in Lake Clark National Park. Your adventure begins by taking an included air charter from Anchorage, and landing on the beach in Silver Salmon Creek. On a clear day you can see Mt. Redoubt, Mt. Iliamna and Mt. Augustine all active volcanoes along with the majestic mountain range and Cook Inlet. Meal times can be altered to accommodate our photography, this is not possible at other lodges. This is a highly productive workshop offering photographers unspoiled wilderness environments in which to shoot unique wild brown bear images. Our primary goal is to photograph coastal brown bears and cubs fishing at the nearby creek, clam digging, and interacting with each other in their natural environment in the most beautiful, pristine area imaginable. Bear viewing is exceptional! We are constantly amazed by the amount of bears in this area. The bears are comfortable with humans and are not threatened by our presence. Many times you can view the bears right around the lodge. The days are long and photo opportunities are abundant. We will make every effort to put you in the right place at the right time. This is your workshop, and we aim to please.
