Elk Adventure, PA
Arrive September 25th by 2:00 pm, Depart 29th (full)
Limited to only 3 participants.
Join Shoot The Light Host, Joe Subolefsky for this intimate adventure with wild elk in Pennsylvania.
Workshop limited to a maximum of three participants, includes three morning sessions and four afternoon sessions photographing elk and usually opportunities to photograph foxes, coyotes, and owls.
Joe has been photographing elk in this area for over fifteen years. This wild herd was reintroduced to the area in 1913 when 50 elk were brought from Yellowstone by train car and now numbers over 1,400 animals. With next to zero hunting and milder eastern winters this special elk zone produces several world class bulls year after year.
While elk are the primary focus, the various residents of the mountainous habitat may make appearances throughout the time in the field. Foxes, coyotes, owls, turkeys and more are particularly abundant in this area. During this time of year, the elk are actively in rut and epic territorial battles ensue to protect harems from visiting males. Capturing confrontations, bugling, chasing, mating and other behaviors will be the focus of our adventure. Having a small group will provide you with the opportunity to learn how to position yourself in regard to the animals by understanding the sun, wind, personality traits and terrain. By being proactive these skills allow us to make the most of the opportunities-a skill you’ll be able to transfer to future situations.
This workshop provides you with amazing in-field photographic experiences, photographic technique discussions along the way as we capture the beauty of these animals and environment.
